Important Reminders

Tomorrow the grade 4/5/6's will be cleaning up the classroom and their personal bins/lockers. They will be bringing all notebooks, workbooks work, and shoes home. Please bring extra bags for your belongings.

Tomorrow night is graduation. Students are asked to come dressed dressy casual. (girls a dress or collared shirt and dress pants - boys a collared shirt /golf shirt/ and dress pants) No shorts or sneakers.

Please remember to wear your gym uniform to Wonderland on Thursday. Remember to apply or bring sunscreen and/or a sun hat.

Arts Night

This Wednesday is Arts Night! The show will begin at 7:00 pm, however students are asked to be at the school for 6:30 pm. Remember to bring your guitars. Thank you for your cooperation.

Field Trip Monday

On Monday we will be going to the Peel Children's Water Festival. Please come dressed in gym uniform. Remember to bring your lunch and sunscreen / hat if necessary.

REMINDERS

A Midsummer Night's Dream- Please bring in costume tomorrow.

On Friday afternoon the students of St. Jude's Academy will be participating in track and field events. Please bring gym uniform and bring water bottle. Remember that the sun is in full effect... bring or wear sunscreen!

Canada's Wonderland

Please read the options on the Canada's Wonderland permission form. If your child will be attending the trip and will be purchasing a ticket from SJA and riding on the bus, simply write your childn's name in the corresponding spot to indicate that your child is attending the field trip and no alternate arrangements are required. Thank you.

Permission Forms

Two permission forms will be sent home this evening. The first permission form is pertaining to SJA's annual trip to Canada's Wonderland. This is to be filled out and returned by Thursday, May 20th. The second form is pertaining to the grades 2-6 excursion to the Peel Children's Water Festival. The permission form and money are to be returned no later than Wednesday May 26th. Thank you for your co-operation.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Students are to bring all costumes and accessories into school no later than Monday. Some excellent places to find costumes/accessories are Value Village, Party Packagers, and Dollarama. Thank you for your co-operation.

REMINDER: On Friday we will be blocking scenes. Students are to have all of their lines memorized up to the end of Act 3 Scene 1 (p. 27). If you are having trouble with the number of lines you have to memorize, focus on different sections each night. You can earn mucho house points on Friday! Don't rush and say lines with emotion. Remember you are bringing these characters to life!

Weekend Reminders

Students are to put their copies of A Midsummer Night's Dream in a duo tang or binder to help protect pages. Practice! Practice! Practice! Let's memorize our lines!

The 1st rough copy of the Science Fair, Skate-a-thon, Earth Day and Interact Conference (grades 5 and 6 only) are due on Monday.

There will be a Math Test on Tuesday or Wednesday - Students should prepare over the weekend.

There will be a Grammar test - Unit 8 - Nouns and Plurals - next Friday.

Interact Club

The St. Jude's Interactors will be raising money for an all girls school in Afghanistan. Please help the students of St. Jude's reach their goal by participating in the car wash on Friday May 14th.

Art Supplies

We will be creating bean mosaics on Friday May 14th. Students are asked to bring in a toonie on Monday May 10th so that supplies may be purchased. Thank you for your cooperation.

Reminders

Remember to buy science display boards for Monday. Please refer to specified dimension as outlined in handout. (1.2 m wide, and 1.5 m high - must be able to stand alone.) Also if you plan on dressing up your science display board bring in supplies you may need (markers, construction paper etc) Please refer to handout so you buy specified dimensions. On Friday the students of St. Jude's will be participating in the annual Skate-a-thon and Interact Conference. If you are attending the Skate-a-thon you may wear casual clothes. If you are attending the Interact Conference you are to come dressed in full uniform (blazer and academic tie, not house tie)

Skate-a-thon

If Grades 5 and 6 students can raise $20 in pledges or more they are able to participate in the skate-a-thon on April 16th!

Reminders

Tomorrow is Casual Day. Thursday April 1st is Easter Spirit Day. Come dressed in Easter Colours (pastels, yellow etc). Please bring 1 hard boiled egg for house games in the afternoon!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Please bring clothing for Phys Ed tomorrow, Thursday April 1, and Friday April 9th. Students will be participating in soccer activities with Mr. Wilson.

MEDIA LITERACY
In the next couple of weeks the grade 4/5/6 students will be focusing on how to write a newspaper story. Students will study how journalists use various elements to craft topical, interesting and relevant news stories. To begin our "Reporter for a Day" assignment students are asked to bring in newspapers (local or international) to class on Monday.

Earth Hour 2010

On March 27 at 8:30 pm, hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for an hour to demand action on climate change. But that's just the beginning. Every hour, Canadians are taking small steps to lessen their impact on the environment. From hanging your clothes to dry to taking transit to work, those small steps add up to huge changes for the better.

Important Reminder

The ski trip this Friday has moved to Thursday. Make sure to bring proper clothing, equipment, lunch or money for Thursday.

Olympic Poster Project

To help capture the spirit of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games the grades 4/5/6 will be creating posters of their favourite sport. Students are asked to buy bristol board (any colour). The assignment is due Monday March 1st. Students are to follow the guidelines we discussed in class. Research will be gathered during class time in the media room. Students are encouraged to work at home as well. Students are to have selected a sport by tomorrow.

The oral presentation competition will take place on Wednesday February 24 at 9 am.

A Night in Tuscany Reminder

For our performance the grade 4,5,6 students are asked to wear jeans, their St. Jude's t-shirts, and sneakers. For the performance boys are asked to wear a bandana and girls are to wear sunglasses. After the performance students are free to change. Thank you for you cooperation! The students are very excited for the big night!
